Born into the line of wise and honorable Hanalan kings, Finlay is of course expected to be the next heir to the throne. He's been groomed since birth for the eventual day when he would take his responsibilities, and like every child with a brain in his head...Finlay doesn't take well to the grooming. Which results in many well-planned disasters for his family---most notably his sister, whom he thinks is both a great partner in crime and a boring pastoral sillyhead. Not that things always go well, since he's still rather young, and there's just so much mischief a boy could pull off without things going seriously wrong somewhere, and he's had his mishaps. Like all boys his age, though, he never learns.

Although Finlay considers wisdom to be dreadfully boring, he inherits in full the trademark Hanalan family intellect, and going through the royal required course is no problem for him. (It's just making him go through them that's the problem because, mind, he is inventive.) He wants to know about the world, though he doesn't understand it, and this in part leads to his latest prank---stowing away on Kelita's carriage and making as much mischief as he can in the process.



PERSONALITY ;;

The first thing you'll remember when meeting Finlay is his grin. He's a cheerful boy, and he likes to pester people for information---which he uses to embarass them in one way or the other later on. Indeed, having lived in the Hanalan palace for his entire young life, he still doesn't understand the concept of the harsh real world. He's heard about it, of course, but being rather young, doesn't know what it's really like yet. For the moment, life is fun and games, getting Kelita into trouble and annoying Nathan, who he thinks is incredibly fun to tease. Finlay likes doing all sorts of outdoor activities, even though his clumsiness worried his parents a great deal. And although he has no love for class, the boy does like books, which sometimes made life hell for the royal librarian of Hanalan. Add that to an active curiousity and mischievous naivete, and he's also starting to show what might be a bright wit in the future. He's also fiercely loyal and sincere.

Sometimes, however, his pranks are just his form of expressing his affection and a little loneliness. Of course, Finlay would rather die than admit this out loud.
